Leslie writes "I know very little about my father Hyman. Apparently he was from Kielce Poland. The story goes is that he was inducted into the Russian Army (a 25 year stint) deserted and did not stop running until he got to Britain. My mother Anne Cohen was born in Pinsk was brought over to London around 1999.married my father at the age of 16.
My family lived in 3 Greens Court Soho until I was 7 years old when we moved to Old Compton Street living above an Italian restaurant until the war started in '39. During the war they moved to Newcastle on Tyne. My sister Rose was married and living in Newcastle. The blitz on London had started and Rose insisted that they get out of London. My father was a military tailor. When he went to Newcastle he carried on tailoring. At the end of the war I lived and studied in Newcastle.
