About Hyman Hecker
This story from granddaughter Shari Baker: "My grandfather drove a bread truck when he and my grandmother first got married. It was during the depression and my grandma would get mad at him because delivering bread was C.O.D. Even though people didn't have any money to pay for the bread he would still let them take it on credit.. This left no money for him and my grandma. She used to say "I didn't even have a dime to hold in my hand." and she had one nightgown for my father to sleep in which she would wash by hand for him to wear over and over again."
From son Jerry, "My dad Hy,was also basicly a quiet person,I think with the females in their lives it would have been hard to get a word in edge wise....". More from Jerry: he was a great all around athlete during his time. Tennis, golf, basketball, and baseball were sports that he excelled. He taught both Ronnie and I how to play.
