" MRS. JOHN TOWNSEND SR.
SELBYVILLE - Mrs. Ida Townsend, 88, widow of John G. Townsend, Sr., died yesterday in her home here, after a lingering illness.
She is survived by a step-son, former U.S. Senator John G. Townsend, Jr., and a brother, Henry Parsons of Hanover, Mo., who will be 100 years old in January.
She was a member of Salem Methodist Church, here and of the Woman's Society of Christian Service. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Watson and Whaley Funeral Home, here, the Rev. Dr. J. Earl Cummings, pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will be in Red Men's Cemetery, here.
Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow evening."
