About Ida Shannon
Ida Goldstein was a cousin of the Koskoff family, who came to live with Lewis and Rossa Koskoff after her parents were killed. She was six years younger than Luba who often called her "my sister". She lived with Luba and her family on and off over the years. She married a man who was apparently half-Native American/half Irish who died shortly after going overseas to fight ( in WWI I am supposing). She worked as a theater cashier both in New York, and eventually in Los Angeles. To the Newman children whe was a warm and kind presence, always bringing home to the Elmhurst house gifts and sweets for the kids. She is also warmly remembered by those of THEIR children old enough to remember her.
