About Imperia de Châtelaillon
Information:
Information:
Geoffroy II, Who died after 1152; Husband of Imperia
This Geoffroy is heir to Isembert II, the last lord of Châtelaillon, who died between 1133 and 1137. We know. That Count William the Toulousain has confiscated most of the lands of Isembert. Geoffroy III succeeded in recovering a part of it, not without having quarreled with another heir, Eble de Mauléon. On an unknown date, in the company of his wife Imperia , he confirmed a donation from Isembert to the abbey of Saint-Jean-d'Angély: mill sites and fishing rights in the parish of Yves, on " Bess of Pons Natalis ." This parish is one of those he received as an inheritance. In 1150 he testified for Guillaume Aimeri, Baron d'Oléron, about the tithe of Bonnemie . We do not know why he is called to testify in Oleron. In 1152, he was designated as one of the two lords of the land where the church of Saint-Berthomé was built in La Rochelle. Then we lose track of him.
It was then that Isambert, Lord of Chatelaillon, died without a direct heir. Geoffroy de Rochefort and an Eble de Mauléon compete for the inheritance, under conditions that are not well known, but they end up sharing the châtellenie de Châtelaillon. Geoffroy de Rochefort receives the south and land in the vicinity of La Rochelle. La Châtellenie de Rochefort now extends, in whole or in part, to the parishes of Yves, Voutron, Thairé, Ballon, Mortagne, le Thou; Its extent is almost doubled.
