Ira Baldwin, son of Deacon Richard Baldwin, was born in Milford, Parish of Amity, Connecticut on Feb. 2, 1775. He settled in New Hartford, Connecticut in 1800, and by his father's will took, in 1823, all his lands there. He died there on Jan 19, 1832 of small pox. He married with LYDIA HOTCHKISS, of Woodbridge, dau. of Deacon Hotchkiss, and sister of the wife of his brother Abner Baldwin.
Children were: Noyes, Ira Merritt, Lydia Caroline (m. David Camp), Sophia (m. Jonathan Deming), Julius (10/4/1811), Royal, and Harriet (living in Medina, Ohio in 1874 with her sister Mrs. Deming, unm).
The dress worn by his sister Abiah was in the possession of the family of Ira for many years.
