The 15 October, 1843, we priest undersigned have baptized Isaac aged about 1 month, legitimate child of Amable Arquoit farmer and of Marguerite. Godfather Etienne Gregoire. Godmother Marguerite who have not known how to sign.

Although his DC gives his birth as 1846 in Washington, the earliest census record (1850) gives his age as 6, and his birth location as Oregon. At that time both areas were part of Oregon Territory, but the records of Hudson's Bay Company state that around 1840 the family settled in the French Prairie portion of the Willamette Valley.
