About Isaac Franklin Burton
Isaac Franklin Burton was my grandfather he was born 7 March1865 at Murray,Ky. He grew to man-hood in this community. He moved to West Frankfort Il. in1917. He was employed as a miner until 1930 when ill health prevented his working. He married Ella D. Barnett 4 Nov. 1886. They were married 53 years. To this union 12 children were born. My father died when I was only 4 years old and I spent time with my grandma and grandpa Burton. He would sit on the front porch and peel apple without breaking the peeling. He taught me to tie my shoe strings. He had a black money pruse for change and he use to let me play with it. He chew tobacco and my grandmother sniffed snuff. My grandmother loved to make quilts. I was named for her. The information contained in the family tree has been obtained over a period of many years. I obtained a great deal of information from Aunt Ethel and Uncle Alnie Burton. Much information was given to be by my Kentucky relatives Wm. Barnett, Vivon Shelton a grandson of Ella D,. Barnett Burton brother John C. Barnett. The preparation of this family tree was prompted by several motives. I feel that the chief reason was a desire to perpetuate the memory of my Granfather Isaac Franklin Burton and Grandmother Ella D. Barnett Burton. Second, a desire to look into the ancestry of our family to try to discover there what sort of clay we have been molded. Therefore, I'am recording the bits of knowledge to show the clay molds of each in our own generations. I hope this record my be preserved and developed for the generations to come. And finally, the hope that the bits of knowledge of the characters of our forefathers may be an inspiration to all the generations following, LuElla Fern Burton Seiler McWilliams 13,Feb. 2009
