About Isaac Peabody
7633. Isaac Peabody. Born ca 1648 in Hampton, Rockingham Co., NH. Isaac died on 21 Oct 1727 in Topsfield, MA. Occupation: miller.
- son of Francis Peabody & Lydia.
Married: 1) Sarah Estey, widow of Moses Gill; 12 children 2) Elizabeth
Isaac lived in Topsfield, MA. His father, out of consideration for Isaac’s loss of one of his legs, left to him the principal house and mill. Isaac's wooden leg, after his death, apparently became something of a family relic. In a letter dated Nov. 22, 1852, and published in the Danvers Centennial Celebration 1852, C. M. Endicott wrote of Francis Peabody's halberd, added: “A wooden leg said to have belonged to the first Isaac was also handed down in the family of Matthew with this halberd, until the generation preceding Joel [1800 1861], when by some means the leg was lost.”
Half brother of Mary Peabody, John Death's wife, grandmoher to Mary Death, wife of Samuel Eames.
