Yesterday night, at his seat at Etal in Northumberland, in the 78th year of his age. Sir William Carr, Baronet. A fine person, affability, and polite behaviour, with every other accomplishment that distinguishes the gentleman composed his character. Sir William married one of the Miss Bacon's of Newton Cap, by whom he had two daughters; the eldest married the Right Hon. the Earl of Erroll, to whose second son he has left his estate; and the second daughter to General Mackay, to whom has left considerable fortune. By his second lady, the widow of Henry Ogle, of Cawsey Park, Esq; he had no issue. The title descends to his brother Robert Carr, of London, Esq.

Their eldest son, Sir William Carr, (O 6) of Etal Castle, born 1703 (“Long Will of Etal”). Upon the death of Sir William Ker, of Greenhead he claimed the baronetcy; and is so styled in his will; but in a codicil he states his opinion that his right was doubtful; married first Anne Ogle (O 5), widow of Henry Ogle, of Cawsey Park, who died without issue. He married second Isabella Bacon (O 7), ancestor of Arran, Gainsborough, Fife, etc. (issue),

1, Isabella Carr (P 7), in 1762 (as second wife) married James [Hay], thirteenth Earl of Erroll (P 8).
Their daughter, Lady Augusta Hay (P 9), married 1788 George, Earl of Glasgow (jure uxoris) of Etal Castle, and estate (issue), James (P 10), fifth Earl, assumed name of Carr. Their son, George (Q 2), fourteenth Earl of Erroll, was succeeded by his brother William, fifteenth Earl of Erroll, who, in 1795, assumed the name and arms of Carr (? Kerr of Greenhead and Etal). His granddaughter Lady Agnes (Hay), Countess of Fife [see Note], was mother of the present Duke of Fife, who married H.R.H. the Princess Louise (issue), the Lady Alexandra Duff (Q 2). NOTE: conflicts with "nth" Earl of Erroll

2, Margaret Carr, married Hon. Alex. Mackey, fourth son of the third Lord Reay.
