A Warrant #816, dated 22 OCT 1777, was issued by Entry Taker John Ramsey to surveyor D.S. Rutherford to survey 100 acres of land for Isham Gunter on South side of Robinson's Creek in Chatham Co, NC. Grant #507 issued 1 APR 1780 in support of this Warrant. See Chatham Co, NC Deed Book B,Pg 554.

A second Warrant #143, dated 30 SEP 1778, was issued by Entry Taker John Ramsey to Surveyor J.T. Rutherford to survey 300 acres of land both sides of Stinking Creek in Chatham County, NC. (The actual plot surveyed was only 277 acres?). Grant #85 issued 1 JUL 1779 in support of this Warrant. See Chatham Co, NC Deed Book B, Pg 342.

A third Warrant #255, dated 19 DEC 1778 & Grant #183 issued 31 MAR 1780 for 400 acres both sides of Stinking Creek in Chatham Co, NC. See Chatham Co, NC Deed Book B Pg 545.

Chatham Co, NC Deeds 1770-1782 (Laird & Jackson) P342- 1 JUL 1779 deed of 275 acres by State of North Carolina to Isham Gunter, both sides of Stinking Creek.

Chatham Co, NC Deeds 1780-1785 (Laird & Jackson) 1780-Isham boundary line mentioned in several deeds written in the 1780's. (Ref Pages 481; 484; 504; 506; & 75. Also P554-1 April 1780 State of North Carolina to Isham Gunter, 100 acres on South Side of Robinsons Creek. Isham Gunter Sr. is mentioned in John Gunter Sr's will written 21 JUN 1781 (Jones Co, NC Will Book A, Pg 26 & 27). Children listed in order as John, Lucy Duncan, Isham, Thomas, Samuel, Mary Duncan, and Joshua. Children listed from father's second marriage were Charles, Wiley & Nancy Gunter. The latter children were born by Isham's step mother Lucy Koonce Gunter (of Jones County, NC). Lucy is documented as being born in 1741.

The above Land Grants #507 & 183 (Total 500 Acres) were contiguous parcels and sold by Isham & his wife Hester, to William Sanders on 9 AUG 1783. Witnesses were Zack. Harmon & John Sanders. Ref Register of Orange Co, NC Deeds 1752-1768 & 1793; Deed Book C p.335.

1791 July 6 – Chatham County, North Carolina: Jessey Tatum of Chatham County, North Carolina deeded to George Lucas of same, for 100 lbs, tract or parcel of land lying the fork of the Haw River of Robinsons Creek…to Isham Gunter’s line…to the mouth of a branch on the River….. 260 acres. Signed; Jessey “x” Tatum. Witnesses: Overton Daniel, Salley “X” Letbetter. August Court 1791. (DB E/224)
