Isham Melton (or Milton). According to the will of 24 April 1759, Isham’s father was Robert Melton. If he was born 1737 his mother was Ann Hall.

Aaron Copeland, who applied for a Rev. War pension, stated that he married Polly MELTON, the daughter of Isham MELTON.

NOTES: (1) "Abstracts of Revolutionary War Pension Files" states: Isham Melton, S38944, VA Line, applied June 5, 1818 Edgefield District, SC, in 1821 soldier was 61 with a wife Sarah aged 60 and daughter; Betsey 17 and Nancy 14, other children were referred to but not named. (2) There was also an Isham Melton who married a Susannah ? and had a son Jesse Melton (b.1808 in NC) (3) Aaron Copeland, who applied for a Rev. War pension, stated that he married Polly MELTON, the daughter of Isham MELTON. (4) From Orange Co., NC Deed Book 13: p. 174--9 Sep 1805: William Woods of Orange Co. sold to Bernard Cate, Jr. 50 acres on Cain Creek to a tree on the conditional line between Moses Fussell and ISHAM MELTON. (Isham's sister Mourning married Robert Cate) (5) a. Anson Co., NC: H2:37 Apr. 14, 1801 197 2/5 acres to Isham Melton from Thomas Watts for $75 at Jones Crk.(Apr. Ct. 1801).

b. Anson Co., NC: L&M:81 Aug. 22, 1806 53 acres to Isham Melton from Isham Dickerson for $80 at SWS Grant Pee Dee Brown Cre. or Kite's Br.; Michael Melton and Reuben Collins witnesses. (Jy Ct. 1807).

c. Anson Co., NC: N&O:133 Aug. 23, 1807 15 acres to Isham Melton from Mordecai Meador for $30 (location identified as "his own Mark Rushing, Jacob Rushing, Thos. Meadors")Michael Melton witness. (Oct. Ct. 1811)
