Isobel BALFOUR , of Monghamy married ABT 1540 in St Andrews, Fife, Scotland to Sir Patrick Learmonth of Dairsie, Kt.

She was the daughter of Andrew BALFOUR , 2nd of Monquhanny and Janet BRUCE. She was born ABT 1520 in Monghamy, Scotland.

While still the mistress of the Archbishop of St. Andrews, on 16 February 1550-51, she Grisel Sempill entered into a contract to marry Patrick Learmonth of Dairsie, Provost of St. Andrews, so soon as decree of divorce should be obtained between him and Isobel Balfour, then his spouse.

However Isobel Balfour was still his wife in a charter dated 7 June 1565. This charter was confirmed under the Great Seal of Scotland on 14 December 1581 but it makes no mention of them having been divorced. Great Seal Register, charter 298
