Issac Belfield Milam operated a grist mill two miles east of Harrison, on Crooked Creek. He and his brother Gideon Milam were said to be overfond of gambling and drinking. The 1860 Carroll County, Washington Township, lists Issac as 40, a farmer and blacksmith. His land is worth $1600, and he possesses $450. Wife Rebecca is also listed, as well as children Sarah, Martha, Sophronia, "Lavina", Thomas, and Harriet.
The 1880 Jackson Township, Boone County, Arkansas census lists Issac as a blacksmith.
