Acquired a great library, later the library of Zamarovce; a keen scholar and student of history. He was a lawyer, active in the 1848 revolution and subsequently barred from practicing law as a result; later (1861) elected chief lawyer / representative of the city of Trencin. Collected stamps. Was twice married, first (1858) in Vienna to Josephina, daughter of the baron Frantisek Poupac; second to Maria Medyanska.
