Iveda D. Sauer, 87, of Spring Valley, died May 18, 2002 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.
Iveda Dorothea Johnson was born June 25, 1914, in rural Spring Grove. She attended Rask Country School, graduated from Spring Grove High School and, in 1932, graduated from Wisconsin Business University in La Crosse, WI. She was a secretary at Electric Auto-Lite Co. in La Crosse. On June 3, 1934, she married Alvin E. Sauer at Wilmington Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. The couple lived in La Crosse, and Mr. Sauer was an assistant manager at Trane Co. In May 1943, they moved to a farm south of Spring Valley, where she lived until 1978. Mr. Sauer died Nov. 25, 1977. Mrs. Sauer moved to Spring Valley and worked as a bookkeeper for Marzolf Implement Co. until 1994, when she retired after 38 years. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years and sang in the church choir. The couple were 4-H leaders in the 1950s.
Survivors include three sons, Robert W. Sr. (Lordes) of Kailua, Hawaii, David R. (Ann) of Oronoco and Ronald D. (Linda) of La Crosse; a daughter, Ann E. Chaffee of Rochester; 15 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and a sister, Selma Clark of Heath, Ohio. Five brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
The funeral for Iveda D. Sauer was May 22, 2002 at Zumbro Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Gary Benson officiating. Burial was at Ostrander Cemetery. Vine Funeral Home in Rochester was in charge of arrangements.
