About J. P. Hoffman
Joe, a 52 year resident of Sacramento, passed away peacefully on the morning of February 26, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife and life partner, Elizabeth “Liz” Dunn Hofmann who passed away in 2017, his parents, Elizabeth Ingram and Joseph P. Hofmann, Sr., of Clairton, PA and his only sibling, Ruth Hofmann Ashton (Al) of Ottawa, OH. Survivors include nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Joe entered the US Navy from high school as an enlisted man, graduated college while in the military and went to flight school in Pensacola, FL where he received a commission as a U. S. Naval pilot and served in the Pacific theatre after the Korean War. He and Liz were married in 1955 and moved to El Cajon CA where he was then stationed; he obtained his graduate degree while there. He transferred to the Naval Reserves in order to begin a career in real estate in Southern California, eventually becoming an Assistant Real Estate Commissioner for the State of California, from which he retired. He had previously retired as a Lieutenant Commander from the USN Reserves. Joe enjoyed investing, sailing, hiking, skiing, traveling and spending time with Liz. There will be a private service.
