About Jacob Wilkins Cobb

Buried: Concord Jacobia Cem, Commerce, Hunt, TX

It is highly likely that Jacob served in one of the Georgia Regiments of the Confederate Army; he would have been the right age. At present, I've got three leads on him:

Jacob W. Cobb (First_Last)

Regiment Name 28 Batt'n Georgia Siege Art'y.

Side Confederate

Company H

Soldier's Rank_In Private

Soldier's Rank_Out Private

Alternate Name

Notes

Film Number M226 roll 12

Jacob Cobb (First_Last)

Regiment Name 3 Georgia Reserves.

Side Confederate

Company C

Soldier's Rank_In Private

Soldier's Rank_Out Private

Alternate Name

Notes

Film Number M226 roll 12

Jacob W. Cobb (First_Last)

Regiment Name 9 Georgia Infantry.

Side Confederate

Company K

Soldier's Rank_In Private

Soldier's Rank_Out Private

Alternate Name J. W./Cobb Jr.

Notes

Film Number M226 roll 12

Next stop will be to match these against the Confederate pension records for Georgia and Texas. Since J.W. died in Texas, it is quite likely the family moved to Texas from Georgia shortly after the Civil War ended. It is also likely that J.W.'s brothers also served in the Confederate Army.

=========================================

I'm leaning towards the latter entry for the 9th Georgia Infantry for J.W., given that he was also referred to as "Jr." and his father was Jacob Cobb.
