ID: I21340 Name: Jacob HOLZCLAW Surname: Holzclaw Given Name: Jacob Sex: M Birth: 19 Apr 1767 in ,Culpeper,Va. Death: ABT 1850 in ,Garrard,Ky. _UID: 460844581D0CDB11A46DC0D4D8681879750F Note: John Blankenbaker has written recently of Jacob Holtzclaw. Perhaps the following information may be of assistance to someone researching this family. (I don't claim this to be without typos.)Later in Garrard Co., KY and in Mercer Co., KY, one finds several intermarriages of the Kemper (Camper) family and the Holtzclaw family.Submitted by E.W.WallaceFauquier County Court 29th of February 1760The Last Will and Testament of Jacob Holtzclaw, deced, was proved by the Oaths of Thomas Marshall and Henry Kamper, witnesses thereto, and is ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of Jeremiah Darnel, one of the Executors therein named, who made Oath according to Law, Certificate is granted him for obtaining a Porbat [sic] thereof in due form he having with Charles Morgan Junr., Peter Kamper and Frederick Fishback his securities entered into and acknowledged Bond as the Law directs. And Liberty is granted to Jacob Holtzclaw, the other Executor in the Will named to join in the Probat if he thinks fit.- Ordered that Henry Holtzclaw be summoned to appear at the next Court to contest the validity of Jacob Holtzclaw's Will if he thinks proper.- Ordered that John Sinclair, John Wright, Charles Morgan Junr and John Duncan, or any three of them, being first sworn, appraise the slaves and personal Estate of Jacob Holtzclaw deced, and return the appraisment to the Court. (Ruth & Sam Sparacio, Minute Book Abstracts of Fauqier County, Virginia 1759-1761 (McLean, VA: The Antient Press, 1993), p. 28-29.Presumably Jacob Holtzclaw, one of the executors, and Henry Holtzclaw are sons of the deceased Jacob Holtzclaw, but that is not documented by the court order. These two Holtzclaws appear on the Prince William Co. rent roll of 1738, probably father and son:Holtzclaw, Jacob & John (J. Estelle Stewart King, WILL. ADMINISTRATIONS, AND MARRIAGES, FAUQUIER COUNTY, VIRGINIA 1759-1800 [Beverly Hills CA: 1939], p. 152. Because Prince William Co. was the parent county of Fauquier Co., Mrs. King included the 1738 rent roll of the parent county.)

You could get 400 acres if you raised a crop of corn and then you also were entitled to another 1000 acres. So looks like Jacob raised his corn, claimed his 400 acres and his additional 1000 acres which he sold to Jacob Fishback -- what happened to the other 300 acres after he sold some to Jr.? Take care.
