Update July 2014: We have found a new Schilobolsky branch

We have heard from a descendant of Jacob Eliezer and Shifra's eldest daughter. His information makes it very very likely that they did have a daughter, Sara, who married and lived in Berlin, and had a large family, with many descendants. This is exciting news!

"Bonjour,

I am Pierre STUTIN from France.

Up to 1954, my family name was STUTINSKY. (SZCZUZCYNSKI)

Around 1875, Fiszko STUTINSKY married Sara Estera SHILOBOLSKI, born Mar 3, 1855 - died Mar 23, 1935, Charlottenburg, Berlin (Source: tombs still existing in the Jewish Cemetary of Berlin).

Sara may be the elder daughter mentioned, and missing in your genealogy.

Family legend says that the Jacob Eliezr's family lived in Goldap East Prussia. at the time of the marriage of Sara Estera,"

The evidence is very strong:

  1. The Stutinsky family has family history that Sara is the child of Jacob (Jankiel) Eliezer Schilobolsky and Chaja Shifra Margolis
  2. Wizajny, where Sara Estera is said to have been born is 11 miles from Przerosl where Chaja Shifra Margolis lived
  3. Goldap where Sara Estera and Fishel (Fiszko) Stutinsky were married is 23 miles from Wizajny and even closer to Przerosl
  4. The gravestone of Sara Estera Stutinsky gives her father as Yaakov Eliezer and her maiden name as Schilobolski
  5. We knew of an eldest daughter in Germany already in the Margolis family
  6. The clincher -- Sara Estera Stutinsky's descendants are documented traveling to America to visit "cousins," all of whom are Schilobolsky (surname changed to Jacobson):

Below all from Pierre Stutin in France (July 2014):

Sara and Fischel had ten living children born between 1878 and 1899. There were five boys and five girls. Two of them died before WWII. The elder son settled in London, another in Alsace-Lorraine (Pierre's branch), the third emigrated to Alberta, Canada, and five emigrated to the United States.

Each of the U.S. immigrants went to Chicago. They were constantly in contact with the Jacobson, Travis and Gittelson families (and others).

The contact appearing on the migration documents of each of the Stutinskys emigrating to the U.S.was a Travis or a Jacobson, named as "cousin".

For instance, Albert STUTINSKY contact in his first trip of march 1938 was Henry JACOBSON in Chicago, and for his second trip in november 1938, Lawrence JACOBSON also in Chicago.

Martha STUTINSKY, his sister, traveled also two times in the States. The first trip took place in December 1936. Cousin William TRAVIS in Chicago was her contact. The second trip took place in October 1938, and the contact there was cousin Lawrence JACOBSON, like her brother.

I found in the Census 1940 that Martha, lived for at least three years in the house of Emmanuel JACOBSON (born ca 1905),in Chicago, Carnell Ave. with his mother Florence (born ca 1870).

Selma, another sister, made it in August 1939, just two weeks before the outbrake of war. She lived in Dantzig. The contact was cousin Oliver F. JACOBSON in Chicago.
