The sad event of Jacob's death was a traumatic experience for the whole family. Jacob suffered deep depression following a rattlesnake bite that caused a long illness. Jacob was helping harvest grain at Noah and Mary's farm, just east of what is now the Vernon Weaver farm. The bundles were lying on the ground; a thunderstorm came up, and they went into the house for awhile. After the rain ended, Jacob took off his shoes and went into the field to set up some bundles. As he picked one up, a rattlesnake bit his foot. He was very, very ill for a long time. Late that fall his wife sally put him into the buggy and took him to Wolcottville to brother Michael's. He stayed most of the winter. Although he was able to return home again, he never was well. One evening when sally called for supper Jacob told the hired man to go on in, he had a sick cow to look after and would be in later. When he didn't come, they began a search and found him, his dog waiting, in the woods where he had hung himself. A very sad, very sad event. This left Sally with the family and farm to manage. Edward Lambright, Adams son, came from Pennsylvania to help Aunt Sally. She raised a fine family. Lambright an Amish surname in norther Indiana, was not always so. Jacob Lambright(1840-1881) Progenitor of the Amish Lambrights - was a six-year-old Lutheran Immigrant to Canton, Ohio, with his widowed father and seven siblings. Eventually needing to support themselves, Jacob and a brother moved to La Grange County, Indiana, where they found jobs with local families. Jacob worked on an Amish farm, and in 1863 he joined the Amish church. Later he married an amish woman, Sara Yoder By Rena Markley
