He appears in the 1860 census of West Penn Township, Schuykill County, Pennsylvania, living with his brother Daniel. In 1870 (as Leibig) and 1880, same township, he appears with wife Matilda Gerber. Jacob appears widowed in the 1900 and 1910 census of the same township. Jacob was a farmer and shoemaker.
