Biography

: Birth: 1633, at Chelmsford, Essex, England. : Jacob probably came to Massachusetts with his parents Joseph and Ann(Makin?) Mygatt in September, 1633. Joseph, probably a follower of Hooker, came to New England on the Griffin.<ref name="Eleven">SamuelGifford Mygatt. Eleven generations. : Per Samuel Gifford Mygatt:<ref name="Eleven"/>

"Philip F. Mygatt and his son Timothy Eli Mygatt went to Chelmsford in 1986 to look through old records. They found a 1622 marriage record of Joseph Maggot and Anna Makin, and baptismal records of four children: Mary, 1623; Joseph, 1626, Thomas, 1629 and Jacob, May 10, 1633. It would appear that they brought Jacob with them on the Griffin, and that the other children did not survive childhood – atleast, another daughter, also named Mary, was born in 1637 in America."
