     Text: Wim Van Duijin, Dutch researcher in Leiden, spent many days this fall (2003) in the archives at Leiden, trying to find the specific records upon which these accounts (Riker?s research) rest. It has been very slow work because the original record books are very fragile, the penmanship and early Dutch spellings make the records almost unintelligible, and access to some records has not been possible. However, Wim Van Duijin has been able to find records to answer a number of questions. The newsletter contains copies of the original records along with the researchers translations.

HISTORY: Jacomina was born at Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands. Jacomina married Isaac Vermilye in 1627 at Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands. They were members of the Dutch Reformed Church. On 12 October 1662, Jacomina and her husband Isaac immigrated on the ship "Peirmerlander Kerch" from Amsterdam, under the command of Captain Benjamin Barentsz, to America. Listed among the passengers were Isaac Vermilye, his wife and four children. They were charged 234 Franc. Jacomina departed this life at Harlem, Westchester County, New York.
