"In memory of Mr. James Allen who died Dec ye 12th 1778 in ye 75th year of his age."

James (s. of Nathaniel 3.) there is no record, or tradition rendering it certain that this man was the son of Nathaniel, but the age and birth make it probable, and leave but little doubt of it; he m. Mary, D. of Daniel Packard, 1732, and had Nehemiah 1733, James 1735, Ruth 1738, Bethiah 1740*, Susanna 1742, Jesse, 1744, Bethiah 1749, Caleb 1751, Silas 1754, Hannah 1756.—The father d. 1778, ae. 74.—Nehemiah went to Oakham.—Ruth m. Ichabod Packard 1757, and went to Oakham,—Susanna m. Capt. Jonathan Willis 1764.—Jesse m. Abigail, D. of Stoughton Willis, 1768, and went Oakham. and had James and Chloe.— Bethiah m. George Black—Caleb went to Conway.—Silas went to Heath. — Hannah m. Ebenezer Keith 1773.—Chloe Allen of Oakham m. Jonas Leonard 1804, and afterwards Gains Conant.—Salome Allen m. Calvin Waterman - 1793

per cristoforo ferrante di ruffano for whom James is fifth great grandfather. b Aug 7, 1704 in Bridgewater, Plymouth MA 1732 married Mary Packhard (b 1716- d 1766). Nine children (as named above via vital records) Died on Dec 12, 1778. (same as son NB, also same as Sunshine Allen my mom who died 12-12-12. Not a propitious day for the Allen family!!)
