James Bennett was born on 31 May 1666 at Charlestown. He was the son of John Bennett and Mary Cobham.

James Bennett married Ruth Rogers, daughter of John Rogers and Elizabeth Pabodie, on 12 July 1694 at Bristol, RI.

James Bennett died on 17 February 1729/30 at Little Compton, RI, at age 63.
