When James (Sama) BLACKMORE was born in 1828 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, his father, John, was 42 and his mother, Mary, was 38. He had one son from one relationship. He died in 1892 at the age of 64.

James christian name on the 1851 England Census is stated as being Sama. James and his wife Mary were witnesses to the wedding of James's sister Frances at her wedding.

At the time of the 1851 English Census James (Sama) was living with his wife Mary Ann and his daughters Ellen and Emma at Cambridge Saint Andrew the Less, Cambridgeshire, England and his age was stated as being 23 years old.
