James Boyce was Transported for life to the colony of New South Wales after having been found guilty of stealing and slaughtering sheep in Essex. He embarked from England on 1st September 1814 and arrived in the colony on the 27 1 1815, a journey 148 days. On board The Marquiss Of Wellington with him was 199 other males of which 198 arrived safely. The master of the ship was Mr George Betham and the surgeon was Mr. Thomas Leighton.
