  • 1764: Amelia Tax List, Nottoway Parish. Thomas Short, James Bradley, Bob, Torey, Charles, Nimmey, Jeffrey, Roger, Prince, Betty, Barberry, Toombo, Judah, & Nan. 14 tithes, 600 acres.
  • 1765: Amelia Co, Nottoway Parish: James Bradley listed with Thomas Short & 13 slaves. Also in Nottoway Par. were Ambrose, Richard, & John Beasley. No Crews. ie. Bradley was working for Short
  • 1765: daughter Elizabeth born VA.

  • 1767, Jun 25: witnessed a deed in Amelia County (Amelia DB 9/164) from John and Ann Allen to Frances Hatheway.
  • 1767, Nov 21: James Bradley mentioned as a neighbor in a Lunenburg deed involving Dry Branch.
  • 1768: Amelia tax list, Nottoway Par - James Bradley, Alexander, Leveston, Ben - 3 tithes, no land.

  • 1782, May 8, Lunenburg County: Deed from Peter Crews and wife to James Bradley is certified. (The deed has not been found in Lunenburg Co or Halifax Co).
  • 1782, Oct 14, Lunenburg County: from Johnson Monroe to Jesse Bradley, 75A on Dry Cr, bounded by James Bradley, Richard Booker, Charles Ingram. The tract formerly belonged to Walter Owen. Signed by Johnson and Amelia Johnson. David Owen was 1 of the witnesses. (Lun DB 13 p 528).

  • 1782 Lunenburg personal property tax list: 2 polls, 5 slaves, 3 horses, 14 cattle. He is listed with Jessie Bradley and slaves Ben, Jim, Cruse (Creese?), Tom, Esther. (Jessie is listed as head of a household from 1786-88). 1782 Lunenburg Land Tax: 275 acres, 5 shillings tax.
  • 1783, Jan 30, Lunenburg: Sally Bradley married Josiah Westbrook.
  • 1783 Lunenburg personal property tax list: James Bradley, Ben, James, Tom, Creesa. 2 white males over 21, 4 blacks, 3 horses, 13 cattle.
  • 1783, Nov 6, Halifax Co: with Robert Childress, bought 250 acres on Bradley's Creek. [A Robert Childress became his son-in-law in 1796]
  • 1784, Jan 9, Lunenburg Co: James Bradley of Lunenburg Co sold to Joseph Townsend, 175 acres Lunenburg Co land bounded by James Hamblett, James Jeffereses, William Hamblett, Richard Chrues, and David Stokes. [Or this could be land that Peter Crews deeded him in 1782]
