About James W. Caudill

James was the son of William "Billy Caudill who was the son of James Caudill Revolutionary War veteran and one of the 1st settlers in eastern Ky. There is a roadside plaque on Rte 7 in Blackey, Ky honoring his service. He is buried across the road from the marker.



James W Caudill was born the son of Wilkes County, North Carolina natives, William and Mary Nancy Craft Caudill. James was born in Floyd County, Kentucky, which later became Letcher County, sometime between 1814-1816. In the 1900 census he was found, a widowed male born March of 1814 in Kentucky living with his son-in-law and daughter, Davis and Nancy Ann Caudill Fields in River, Letcher, Kentucky. He died after 1900 yet before 1910 in Letcher County, Kentucky. He is buried beside his wife, Elizabeth Mullins Caudill in the cemetery that bares the name of their grandson and his wife, George and Rebexy Caudill Fields.
