About James A Cochran
GEDCOM Note
He was the weaver of the family. He wove most of the cloth from the yarn spun by his mother. One can imagine how much cloth was needed to clothe a family of eight. Their shoes and boots were often made at home and sometimes by a neighbor who was a better cobbler. James could weave one yard of wool cloth in a full day of steady weaving. He was noted for two quaint remarks: one, "peach pie and sweet cream are the fondest thing I'm of". The other, one day when he got drunk on hard cider, his brother Robert heard him repeating, "Gnat, little hammer! Gnat, little hammer!" James was trying to kill gnats that swarmed around the cider with a little hammer.
After marriage, owned the Anderson farm south of Burnettsville. They later sold the farm and moved to Medford, Oregon. Had two children, John and Nan. Source Link: https://www.geni.com/documents/view?doc_id=6000000135076167960&label=@S7@
