The Licence dated 31st December 1838 for James Couzin Wood and Ann Turner

reads:

On which day appeared personally James Couzin Wood of the parish of

Maplebeck in the county of Nottingham farmer and alleged and made other that

he is of the age of twenty one years and upwards and a bachelor and that he

intends to marry Ann Turner of the parish of Southwell in the county of

Nottingham and that she is of the age of 21 years and upwards and a spinster

etc..... and he prayed a licence to solmnise the said marriage in the parish

church of Southwell and he also made oath that the usual place of abode of

her the said Ann Turner had been for the space of fifteenn days immediately

before the date hereof in the parish of Southwell.
