Military (Aug 1, 1862) Co. D, 81st Illinois Infantry, Union Forces. Mustered out as Private after 1 year, 7 months and 5 days. Fought at Vicksburg, Mississippi where his brother 1st Lt. William Lafayette Farmer was killed. Also a member of Co. D, 81st Illinois Infantry.
