"James Hay, educated at King's College, Aberdeen ; M.A. (2nd May 1779 1754) ; licen. by Presb. of Elgin 4th May 1762; ord. to Inverurie 27th Sept. 1763; trans, to Dyce 11th July 1770; D.D. (1778); pres. by George III. 17th Dec. 1778; trans, and adm. 8th July 1779 ; died 22nd Jan. 1784. He left £100 for a preacher at Pluscarden. He marr. (1) 11th Nov. 1763, Katherine (died at Dyce, 6th Feb. 1779), daugh. of James Robertson of Bishopsmiln, Provost of Elgin, and had issue —
