Jim never married. Family story is he rode horseback from Knox Co., TX to Caprock, NM when he was about 16 years old and homesteaded land there. There were stories that he was a bit of an outlaw, robbing a bank in NM and burying the cash on his property but no money was ever found. Another story was that he stopped around Dickens Co. on his way to NM to bunk down with some of the people working for the railroad. The story told was that he got into a card game, did not play well, robbed the train crew of their winnings, jumped on his horse and lit out before they could catch him. These stories make his life sound more exciting than it probably was! His sister "Dollie" Henry went to NM and lived/kept house for Jim before her marriage to my Grandfather, Wm. Henry James. Jim had an oil lease for many years on his property. After his death, the money from the lease was distributed annually among his siblings and their heirs for many years. I believe the last check my dad received was for about $2.00!
