Mary, d. of James Hosmer, the first of the same, had Thomas, James, and John, b. there, rem. to Lexington, and had Samuel, wh. d. 22 Apr 1670; Samuel, again; Joseph, b. 4 Mar. 1681; and Benjamin, 24 Sept. 1689; the last three bapt. 24 Nov. foll. at W. His w. d. 1 Oct.

1719 aged 67.

JOSIAH (Savage?) , Wethersfield, oldest s. of major Simon, m. at Concord, 20 Mar. 1657, Hannah, d. of Thomas Hosmer of Hartford, had Samuel, b. 1 Sept. 1658; and Josiah, 13 Mar. 1660; both at Hartford, where he was then sch.-master, and so was after empl. at W. where he prob. had Dorothy; Simon; Stephen; Thomas; John; and Hannah; was freem. 1665, bec. a trader, and d.1674, when his est. was insolv.

WILTON, * DAVID, Dorchester 1632, freem. 11 June 1633, rem. with the gr. migrat. to Windsor 1635 or 6, was rep. 1646, 7, 50-4, 6, rem. 1660 to Northampton, and was one of the pillars at the foundat. of the ch. 18 June next yr. and rep. to Boston 1665, ens. 1662, in 1663 was lieut. and serv. in Philip's war, d. at Windsor, on a visit, 5 Feb. 1678.

His only ch. Mary m. 6 May 1652, that brave capt. Samuel Marshall, wh. fell in the gr. Narraganset fight, 19 Dec. 1675, and her f. in his will gave est. to her and her childr. with his wid. Catharine, wh. m. 6 May 1679, Thomas Hosmer. and Abigail, wh. m. 24 Mar. 1667, Stephen Hosmer. The will names, beside Michael, Ruth and her h. the. gr.d. Abigail Hosmer .

James Hosmer, the father of Martha, was b. Oct. 23, 1663 at Concord, Mass., and m. Elizabeth Sawyer, Feb. 10. 1687 ; she was b. Feb. 6. 1603, at Lancaster, Mass., and d. Jan. 15. 1745, at Woodstock. He probably lived in Lancaster for a time, afterwards .settled in Worcester, and removed to Woodstock before 1710. where he became prominent. His father. James Hosmer, was b. in Concord. Mass., in 1637; m. Sarah White, Oct. 13. 1758; and was killed in the battle of Sudbury, April 21, 1676 (see X. E. Gen. Reg.. Vol. 20, pp. 347, 348). Sarah White was the dau. of Capt. John White and sister of

the famous Mrs. Rowlandson, who was taken prisoner in King Philip's War, and afterwards published a book on her hardships. Capt. John White of Salem, in 1638, went to Lancaster, and was one of the founders of that place, a leading man and the largest landholder. He was b. in England, and d. in 1655. His children were all prominent.

James Hosmer the first, father of the above, was b. in 1607. and m. Anna . who was b. in 1608. He came from London in the ship Elizabeth, in 1635. Their English home was in Hawkhurst. in Kent County. They brought with them two servants and two daughters: Mary, aged 2 years, and Ann, 3 months. He was one of the founders of Concord, and had b. there: James. 1637: John, 1639; and others. He was a freeman, May 17. 1637, and d. Feb. 7, 1685.

He was a man of influence. Anna, his wife. d. May 11, 1641.

John Corbin lived in Thompson, Conn., which was then a part of Killingly, and about six miles east of his father's house in Woodstock. There he built the second house, which was located on the southern side of Thompson Hill, on the site of the present Chandler residence. In May, 1753, he was commissioned by the General Assembly

ensign, and, in October of the same year, lieutenant of the South Company or Train Band in the town of Killingly. (Col. Records of Conn.) In 1760 he was a highway surveyor for Killingly. He d. and, with his wife, was buried at Thompson.
