The following was taken from the Aug. 3, 1973 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:

James Jacobs, 61, of Route 1 Pembroke died Thursday in Southeastern General Hospital after an illness of several years. The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in Bear Swamp Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. T. M. Swett and the Rev. Robert Mangum. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Annie Lowry Jacobs; his sons, Vardell, Eugene, Johnson and Junior Jacobs of Pembroke; Jennings Jacobs of High Point; his daughters, Mrs. Clara Mae Brooks and Mrs. Betty Locklear of Maxton, Mrs. Flora Jean Lowry, Mrs. Diane Chavis and Miss Oneta Jacobs of Pembroke; his brothers, Belton Jacobs of Lumberton, and Samuel Jacobs of Pembroke; his sisters, Mrs. Polly Anna Woods, Mrs. Bessie Wilkins and Mrs. Lucenda Cummings of Lumberton, and Mrs. Adnell Locklear of Red Springs; 13 grandchildren.
