About James "Jay" Curtis Arledge, Jr.
James "Jay" Arledge, Jr. age 73, died Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Agape Rehab in Conway. Jay was born in Morganton, NC to the late James Curtis Arledge, Sr. and Azalee N. Arledge on April 29, 1939. He graduated from East Carolina University with a Masters in Art. Jay was a member of KA. As a student, he was a member of the NC Artist Guild and won artist of the year his senior year. Among his accomplishments is a permanent exhibit in the Museum of Art in Washington, DC. He taught art in Wilmington, Raleigh, Atlanta and College of Albemarle in Elizabeth City, NC. He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Arledge. Survivors include his sister, Norma A. Gaut, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.
