James Johnston of Schiennes

Biographical Summary

John Johnstone, of Westerhall, created a baronet in 1700. He m. Rachel, eldest dau. of James Johnstone, of Schiennes, brother of Sir Archibald Johnstone, Lord Wariston, by Anna Hamilton, dau. of Sir John Hamilton, lord register of Scotland, brother of Thomas, 1st Earl of Hadington. By her he had issue, a dau. Philadelphia, wife of Douglas, of Dornock. Sir John Johnstone d. in 1711, without male issue, and was s. by his brother.
