About James Alexander Lastinger
Dora Ann was married to James Alexander Lastinger on April 13,1867 in Bulloch County, Georgia. The marriage was performed by Rev. William A. Brannen at her parents home.
James enlisted in 63rd Regiment Georgia Infantry Company K in Savannah, Georgia on November 18,1863. He deserted on November 7, 1863 in Vicksburg, Mississippi. According to family members he carried a gun with him until he died saying that the Deserters Brigade would never take him alive. He was never captured. He died on December 4,1896 in Bulloch County, Georgia and was buried in a small cemetery near Upton,Georgia. His grave along with the cemetery has been lost due to the increase of agriculture at the begining of the 20th century.
