About James Livingston, 2nd Lord Livingston of Callendar

Notes

From http://www.clanmacfarlanegenealogy.info/genealogy/TNGWebsite/getper...

James is said to have married up to 3 times but, although marriages were certainly contracted, it is not certain that they ever took place. His brother David managed many of his affairs, suggesting that he was not fully capable of doing so by himself. The alleged marriages were to (1) Christian Erskine (dau of Sir John Erskine of Kinnoull), (2) Christian Crichton (dau of Sir Robert Crichton of Sanquhar) and (3) Agnes Houstoun (this last marriage being suggested by Burkes Extinct Peerage 1883 but not by The Scots Peerage (Linlithgow), which may indicate that this Agnes Houstoun was the one who married the 3rd Lord rather than the 2nd Lord).

James Livingston, 2nd Lord Livingston of Callendar - according to Livingston records - died without issue (dsp).

The Scots Peerage (Livingston, Earl of Linlithgow, page 432, footnote 7) mentions the marriage a daughter of James, second Lord Livingston, to Walter, and ends his entry with "Whether this Lord married or not, there seems to have been no surviving male issue, as he was succeeded by his nephew. [1]
