Administration on James Lovell's estate was granted to James Lovell, husbandman, Joshua Torrey, cordwainer, and Jane Torrey, his wife, with John Pratt and Samuel King, cordwainer, sureties, 18 Mar, 1717-18. Division of the estate mentions James, the eldest son, Enoch, second son, Joseph, Samuel, David and Isaac and Jane, the only daughter, each one-eighth, 18 Jan. 1719-20.

Guardianship papers call Joseph about 12, Samuel about 9, David about 7 and Isaac about 4, son of James Lovell, late of Weymouth, deceased, 8 Dec. 1718. (Suffolk Probate, New Series, 9: 190-193, 258.) Inventory, ;61,232 7s., taken 10 Apr. 1718, mentions land in partnership with his brother Andrew Ford. (Ibid. 20: 455.)
