He died before January 2, 1818.3 William Ellison presented the petition of Joseph Mickle, praying to be appointed Guardian 

to George Motley, Susanna Motley and Thomas Motley, for the purpose of making titles on behalf of the said George, Susanna

and Thomas who are infants under age 21 years, to a certain tract of land situate in Richland near Columbia containing 50 acs.,

sold by John Motley in his (p. 153) lifetime to Henry Hornesby, for $400, to whom the said John Motley gave bond to make

title, but died without doing so, which said land descended to John Motley, James Motley, George Motley, Susanna Motley

and Thomas Motley, as the surviving children and heirs at law of the said John Motley, Senr., who are unable to make titles on

account of the three last mentioned children being underage that the said Joseph Mickle be appointed Guardian aforesaid, and

authorized to make titles to the said Henry Hornesby on behalf of George, Susanna and Thomas Motley, on his giving the

usual security and that Letters of Guardianship do issue accordingly.

He was married to Tabitha " Betty " PIERCE.4 Her full name came from LDS film # 1985297 on birth of son, John. Tabitha

" Betty " PIERCE died before 1800.2 She appeared on the census in 1810 in Kershaw District, SC.5 She is listed as a head

of household and a widow. This most lilely is John's wodow. John MOTLEY ( MOTLOW ) and Tabitha " Betty " PIERCE

had the following children:

Mecklenberg County, North Carolina (LDS Film # 1904010 ) or perhaps Greenville County, SC where there was a John

Motlow in 1792. He was a Farmer in 1850 in Kershaw District, SC.9 He listed assets of $5,000. He died on July 29, 1871 in

Kershaw District, SC.10 He was buried in Smyrna Methodist Church, Salems Crossroads, Elgin, Kershaw County, SC.11

He was married to Phillippina " Penny " LITTLE (daughter of Daniel LITTLE Jr and Phillipina EIGENER) in 1807 in

Kershaw District, SC.12,13,14 Phillippina " Penny " LITTLE was born on September 15, 1788 in Mecklenburg County, NC.15

She died on September 19, 1863 in Kershaw District, SC.16 She was buried in Smyrna Methodist Church, Salems Crossroads,

Elgin, Kershaw County, SC.17 John MOTLEY and Phillippina " Penny " LITTLE had the following children:
