When I was researching Samuel A. Plum's information, I found his birth record. It listed Samuel's parents as John C. Plum and Ellen Plum. When I was looking over the birth records, on the page before was listed another child born of the same parents in the same district. It can only be assumed that these two boys are brothers and born of the same parents.

Marriage Records indicate that a James P. Plum (30) married Addie M. McGinnis on March 21, 1899. It shows that he born in Preston County but there was no mention whether or not that he was a widow or not. It also doesn't share additional information like parents names.

Marriage Records indicate that a James P. Plum (25) married Virginia F. James on August 22, 1894. It shows that he born in Preston County but there was no mention whether or not that he was a widow or not. It also doesn't share additional information like parents names.

Marriage Records indicate that a James P. Plum (55) married Nina M. Brown on November 5th 1927. It shows that he was born in Preston County but there was no mention whether or not he was a widow or not. It also doesn't share additional information like parents names. His age is also about three years younger than what shows on his birth record but that would not be the first time old records were incorrect.

I am not sure if there was more than one James P. Plum's born around the same time in Preston but it seems highly unlikely. I am sure that he remarried several times but it has yet to be determined 100%. I would like to back it up with some death certificates or divorce records.
