About James Parkinson, FGS
James Parkinson, FGS (1755 – 1824) was an English surgeon, apothecary, geologist, palaeontologist, and political activist, who is best known for his 1817 work, "An Essay on the Shaking Palsy" in which he was the first to describe "paralysis agitans", a condition that would later be renamed Parkinson's disease by Jean-Martin Charcot.
British Physician and Palaeontologist. Graduated at the London Hospital Medical College, he was the discoverer of eponymous disease that causes seizures and tremor in the upper limbs. According to experts, he was the pioneer of Preventive Medicine. "Medical admonitions to Families" is considered his most important essay, along with "Organic Remains of the Former World.
