Note:John Brown's Genealogy website describes James as having sandy red hair and a beard.

Note: James arrived in KY about 1809 with his in-laws and two brothers, Irwin and Thomas.  He first settled in Caldwell Co but moved the following year to Hopkins (now Webster Co)
