Notes for James SCARROW
Estimated marriage date based on first child's birth date. According to Nancy Scarrow's history, James and Susan immigrated about 1842 from England with eight small children. This date approximation is replicated in a news story written about daughter Elizabeth's 94th birthday. (Owen Sound Sun-Times, Oct.12, 1931.) There is no record that they owned land in Ontario. The 1851 Census indicates that they may have first lived with Henry's older brother William Radford Scarrow. James resided in the US for some time with his family, before returning to Eramosa Twp. According to census records for Eramsosa Twp., they were Methodists. Martha and Jacob were probably their only Canadian born children.
