James Elmer Stiles, Sr

James E. Stiles Sr., 77, of Eldersburg, died Sunday March 7, 2004, at Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster. Born February 9, 1927, in Georgia, he was the son of the late Fred and Estie Clark Stiles. He was the husband of Willie Hyder Stiles of Eldersburg, his wife of 28 years. He was predeceased by his first wife, Joan Bishop Stiles.

 He served in WWII as a paratrooper in H Company 508th Regiment 82nd Airborne Division. In post-war Germany he served as an honor guard for General Eisenhower. After his service days, he worked at Bethlehem Steel and spent 39 years with CR Daniels as traffic and warehouse manager. Since retiring in 1988, he has delivered flowers for Hutchinson's Florist in Eldersburg.

 Surviving in addition to his wife are daughter and son-in-law Colleen "C.J." Stiles and Steve Shatzer of Westminster, stepdaughter Lori Hyder Carter and her husband Ed Carter, stepson David Hyder and his wife Eddie and stepson Tom Hyder and his wife Jackie and 3 grandchildren.

 He was predeceased by his son, tJames Stiles Jr., and by two brothers and two sisters.

 Funeral services will be held on today at 11 a.m. from Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. Interment in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville.
