He was a Justice in Bath County in 1816, and was living i n the section of Bath (former part of Augusta) that becam e a part of Pochontas County, West Virginia in 1822.

James & Nancy were married in Augusta County, 1790 and live d in that section of Augusta that became Bath County, Virgi nia about 1790. He was a Justice in Bath County, in 1816 a nd was living in the section of Bath (former part of August a) that became a part of Pocahontas County, West. Virgini a (now West Virginia) in 1822. James was active in the org anization of Pocahontas, and he and eldest son, Benjamin (l ater Col. Benny Tallman of Tallmansville, Upshur Co. , Wes t Virginia) were name d two of the first seven justices. B enjamin was named Lt. Col. of the first County Militia ; an other son, Boone Tallman, was named a captain. Mrs. Boeche r was a descendant of Col. Benny Tallman. Mr. Ken Tallma n of Brea, California (now of San Jacento, California) i s a descendant of James' son, Boone Tallman. James marrie d second, in 1807, Jemima Gillespie. The above paragraph wa s written by Mrs. Helen (Lightburn) Boecher Rin #12734 i n my ancestral file . She was a descendant of Col. Benny Ta llman.

Email letter from J & G Hadley 18 Apr 1999 23:05. James wa s a lieutenant in Lee's army, 31st regiment Virginia Volunt eerts. They moved to Missouri in 1867; first to Sullivan C ounty then to Carroll County, He died 1910 and is buried a t the Hurricane. Descendants of Thomas Durfee by Reed W.F. Vol 2 1902 starti ng on page 571 is the section that covers the Tallman - Dur fee family. The foregoing Henton record is printed a furnished by a des cendant of Thomas Henton.
