This James Tooke, son of James Tooke and Dorothy Gray of Hertfordshire and James Tooke of Virginia, are not the same person. Previous research had not identified that James the son of James Tooke and Dorothy Gray was born in about 1620 and was buried 24 March 1637/38 in Stepney, Middlesex, England. There are numerous publications that incorrectly identify their son James as being the immigrant to Jamestown, Virginia. This profile should not be merged with James Tooke of Virginia, nor should James Tooke of Virginia be added as a son of James Tooke and Dorothy Gray of Hertfordshire.
